The traditional teaching aims to train Masters rather than excellent technique performers. A Master is not someone who knows everything, but someone that can continue learning endlessly on his own.
The first step towards this aim is training and learning in one coherent direction: this is the “DO” in Japanese.
On the contrary to the concept in which the student goes to seminars of various teachers and learns a lot for a grading event, a traditional student has but only one teacher from which he learns his chosen way.
